Our Van cherry tree failed to get past the bud stage this year; the Bing cherry tree approximately 30' away was fine. I discovered many many tiny green worms all over the Van, I think they were winter moth. Anyway, the tree looks pretty much dead this year although we've find a tiny amount of green when cutting branches off. We thought we'd wait and see if it will come back next year. WOuld it be helpful to cut the branches back this year? And if so, when would be a good time to do so? It has been showing signs of canker. We planted this tree about 20 years ago.
