Hello, We have a 10 year old Cherry Blossom tree. It produced an abundance of blossoms in early March. As the blossoms faded away, the leaves started to grow. Unfortunately, during last week’s windstorm, most of the leaves got blown away. Now, the tree only has a few leaves at the top. The lower branches are bare. We are worried that the tree might die. Will it be able to produce fresh leaves? Thank you, Fenton Coquitlam
If the wind was the only reason for that it will leaf back out again. But it seems odd it would grow there for 10 years and only have this happen now.
Thanks, Ron. The only difference that I can think of for this year is that the blossoms came out very early due to the mild winter and the warm weather. The winds were very strong and I could see the tree shaking and the young and half-formed leaves falling. Are there any other reasons for the tree to be in full bloom and the leaves to fall subsequently?
