Good morning on a beautiful sunny start to the day here in Southern England. Yes it's only 0630hrs, but why waste it being in bed when you can be outside amongst the maples.
So as I sit having a coffee I took these. Summer Gold, Emerald lace, Red dissectum, Matsukaze, Red dissectum Summer Gold and Picea glauca Daisy's white, and finally a close up of Emerald lace.

I like a nicely mown lawn to sit in front of my maples, I've not gone full maple in the beds yet, but I'm working on it.

Is there a lawn thread, I had a quick look but couldn't find one?

A beautifully manicured lawn sets off maples perfectly. And yours N is amazing, stripes as well. Very impressed.

I will admit this inspired me to go and look up the Jiro Shidare thread, just because(!) Gotta love an ugly tree...

    @Luke’s Maples
Here’s Jiro Shidare. Perhaps I’m being harsh, but it’s my least favourite.

It’s around 4-0 tall and the branches cascade down which is the main feature.

This is my, or ‘the’ Moonrise!

when I got it there were 4 main branches that had sprouted from the trunk, and they why all wonky, or bunched together and it wasn’t attractive to look at at all. However, Moonrise is a very special tree in my opinion and so try to look passed that and what I could potentially do with it. After all it’s not often you find a Moonrise 4ft+ tall, unless spending silly money. This was either mislabelled or something, I can’t remember but I paid less than 4£40 or £50 for it.

I have done some work with it, by means of wiring and staking etc and it’s starting to look like an actual tree. I’m really happy with it. Here are some photos.

I reckon to find a tree similar to that you’d have to go to a certain specialist and you’d be looking at approx £300.

Anyway I hope you guys like it. I’m hoping it continues to develop into a very nice tree.

Picked up a ‘rescue tree’ for single figures after pointing out it had been neglected and one of the branches had split. It was in a real state. However, not having Seiryu in my collection I thought the right thing to do was to ensure it ended up at a good home with a loving parent lol. Already done some work on it but it desperately needs a bigger pot which I’m waiting on.

Personally I think it’s got bags of potential. Just needs some tlc and patience.

Although I do seem to love all maples, I think I feel the same as you. There is nothing that stands out. Especially when there are many hundreds of others that are breathtaking.

Some of my Moonrise pics sent on to the seiryu post. Sorry about that. The Moonrise is in the terracotta pot, which I’m waiting for a replacement for of course lol ;-)

I think this has every chance to be an amazing tree Luke. I don't think it will take too many years to get the the height you want either. What height is that BTW?
Can you imagine walking under it ?? That would be amazing.

I’ll just let it keep growing, once I have a place of my own I’ll probably find a suitable location to put it in the ground.

Thanks, yes spot on. I did think the linearilobum may have been a Villa Toranto but I'm not sure any more, it was just sold as linearilobum, the other two are Seiryu and Purple Ghost.
