One year grafts from Barthelemys. Same tree? I’m not convinced.

Yes I am actually. I guess it’s the one advantage to pot growing. A lot of work involved but it allows me to play around with them ;-)

Welcome from myself and it looks like you are well on the way to establishing a decent collection.
Although I do buy occasional specimen trees, many of my prize Maples are grown on from small grafts living there first few years in pots before planting out.

Thank you very much - that's really good to hear, seeing all these (massive, beautiful!) trees everyone posts and then looking at my little twigs with a few leaves on top. Can't wait for them to get a bit bigger and start showing some form - hopefully in a few years, assuming they survive that long!

With some cultivars, you can get to 13 feet from a one year graft in 10 years. To do this, they need to be moved into the ground once big enough, but even in a pot, if looked after properly you can have a 6 foot specimen.
Most will need help with training and staking to achieve height, but equally can be kept to any size you want.
And then there’s the dwarfs which look amazing when mature and kept in a pot.

They all look very healthy, foliage is unblemished.
Maples don’t usually like oversized pots, yet yours all look very happy.

Thank you! Maple Collector on youtube (who is amazing) mentioned in a video that grow bags can help promote healthy root systems, so I thought no harm in giving it a go. Not sure how I'll protect them come winter (they were all in wooden pots this winter just gone) but that's a challenge for another day :)

If those fabric pots are porous and let the compost dry out, they will likely be fine.
I’m now thinking fabric pots as I have a textile products manufacturing business, lol

Wow! What a truly impressive collection of maples. Sadly all my photos won't be from spring, as Acerholic first requested. In fact, all these maples were grown on Ruxton Island, which is in the Canadian Gulf Islands between Valdez Island and Ladysmith - Cedar area on Vancouver Island. I haven't been there for better than 7 years, and I may have forgotten the names of some of them. Additionally, I am having to retrieve these photos from a DIY site that they were posted on, as one of my computers got destroyed when corrosion set in inside. The tech people were unable to salvage anything off the hard drive. On top of that, the maximum file size allowed on the DIY site, until very recently, was just 100 Kb. So that means that these guys will be pretty small.

I believe this is a Koto no Ito, but as with all the photos I will be posting I definitely stand to be corrected.

I believe this to be a waterfall maple.

I don't really know if this is even a Japanese maple. I have it listed as a Norway maple, but it has pretty nice colour.

Hopefully, this is a full moon maple. Photo taken in October of 2010. Now you know why I can't remember these names!

The only note I have on this one is that I grew it from seed some time prior to 2009. If anyone cares to name it, good show!
