@LoverOfMaples, Hi D they are not for sale anywhere in UK. I don't know why the Pictums are not more common here, as they are wonderful looking trees. The batwings are for sale at Esveld and others in the EU. Are you thinking of buying one ? If so you couldn't get a better green speckled leaf IMO.

@LoverOfMaples, I'm hearing the average time for a complete sale out is 15 minutes for a new release at Mr Maple. This is becoming a very serious pastime everywhere.
Maples do not dissapear off the shelves quite so quickly over here thank goodness.
Look forward to seeing yours when delivered D

Popped over a friends new house and they have a mature maple probably 12ft tall, typical bloodgood leaves, maybe smaller leaves..but it’s the Very darkest purple/virtually black I’ve ever seen... I might try my hand at a graft :)

I have just arrived at the workplace, and the temperature has risen to 44 ° today.
I hope my maples don't burn.

I have the nebulizers running 24 hours.
I wish I had that wind instead of these temperatures, so don't complain, ha ha.

That is a great list LoverOfMaples. And I just had a look at Hot Tamale on the MrMaple website. Very nice indeed. They introduce so many new varieties that we don’t get over here.. Enjoy!

Oh that's good J. But 44° is in difficult territory. Our fingers are crossed for you. Expect Monica @monicasanchez is suffering the same.
As long as you can create humidity, it will really help. You are both doing so well in those circumstances. Do keep the forum updated.

Lol we sure would. Yes the 2 new babies are definitely ready to be potted up. I have just ordered everything I need to do my repotting. There will be a load to do. I am waiting for the Westlands Irish peat moss, Levington ericaceous compost, Melcourt propagating pine back and horticultural potting grit.

Pots just arrived. The second maple related parcel today lol

Brilliant Luke, absolutely everything that is required, you are so organised, see you've had rain today also, ours is coming tomorrow according to the forecasts.

Btw, you are going to have to stand upright to take your photos, lol

My concern is that if they begin to show autumn colours in late June/early July, how will they fare for the rest of the season ?

I already mentioned a tree (about 3 metres +, behind a wall) that I can see in a garden, which is not supposed to be a red variety, but it already has its autumn colours : isn't that too much of a stress that can cause some damage ?...

Can photosynthesis be as efficient ?
