Hi again everyone, OK, here is my next sample. This took me a while to figure, but once I got down to it, I don't think it would be anything else, but correct me if this is Psathyrella of a different type. One thing that threw me is the spore print is a charcoal black and I can't see it being a dark brown, with the exception that the gills are brown. No microscope, so you'll have to bear with me. Is this Lacrymaria velutina A.K.A. Psathyrella velutina A.K.A. Weeping Widow? pudleduk
Well, I don't know what it is, but bravo for the detailed set of photographs. I'm certain one of the experts will come along and ID it soon.
I was purposfully mum on this post, as I've never actually seen this mushroom in person (although your ID looks good based on the descriptions I've read). Echoing the comments of Daniel, Kudos to the attention to detail.
Thanks Illecippo, he smells strongly of iron I would say. grabbed another couple of samples, and discovered that the spores do become a deep brown color when they are left to pile up for several days. Here are some baby pictures for everyone to consider. Glad you all enjoy the pics, I really get a kick out of the supermacro function on my camera. pudleduk
