I recently nought a very very nice Cat Palm from co op. Is in the front window (south west facing i think) but the tree in the front yard blocks most of the light where it is. Its been 4 days and its already opened 3 leaves. Very great palm for indoors.

Anyone have any experience with this palm??? I find it easier to grow inside then the chameadorea elegans.

Does it cause blindness by making cataracts occur? Or was it once considered a cure for cataracts?

Looked it up - the name derives from its growing beside waterfalls (cataracts) and other fast-flowing streams.

Suggests it likes good throughflow of well-oxygenated water!

thats what I was thinking. I was going to water it with only aquarium water to try and =ive it what it would get in nature. Then again all house plants like old aquarium water. You find anything else out????
