    Nope, this plant is Asian (for others reading, the genus Escallonia is restricted to South America).

    No, not a cultivated fruit tree. However, at least one member of the genus in North America has edible fruits.

    You wily rascal! Daniel, who would think to think SMALL? I will try to keep trickery and very sly motives in mind on the next plant i.d. query. That was beautiful, and the blown up micro photo was great.
