    I wonder if anyone can identify this plant growing in Chiriqui, Panama, elevation 4700':

    Does the genus Viburnum occur in Panama? This certainly looks like one.

    That was my thought too Michael. Gentry (Field Guide To The Families And Genera Of Woody Plants Of Northwest South America) mentions both Viburnum & Cornus, though not by species. The only specific listing I have found for Viburnum in the area is V. costaricanum, which is a possibility, but I haven't found any photos to confirm this in any way.

    Thanks, David - that may be yet another possibilty. The tree in the photo was found growing about 25 miles (as the crow flies) from the Costa Rica border - so right area.
