When on holiday in Central America I often saw this plant growing within coffee plantations. I enquired its purpose and I was told it was a fruit planted so that anyone working could help themselves. Noboby could tell me its name. Anybody know?

Papaya is often planted in mixed culture with coffee in Central and South America - it seems to provide protection from fungal diseases.
