I've been having a hard time id-ing this yellow plant. Goldenrod was suggested also celosia; but the flowers just don't seem to match. The flowers are more fuzzy than feathery. They are about 2-3 ft. tall with spear-shaped leaves.

I don't recall having any last year. It may have been in a wildflower mix I used last year.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Well it's not goldenrod, but a lot nicer, though I'm not familiar with celosia.

I believe what you have there is a Goldenrod. It is a variation of Canada Goldenrod known as Salebrosa Goldenrod, Solidago canadensis var. salebrosa. It is definitely not a Celosia, their flower heads are much more featherlike.

In most of the goldenrod photos the flower stems were droopy and pointed down. That's why I thought it wasn't goldenrod... After looking at many more images on Google (and specifically the solidago canadensis salebrosa) I finally saw some pics that looked more like mine.
    Thank you very much!
