Hi There! I have nice emerald cedar trees as hedging. They were planted at 2009.Oct. Just recently I have realized that some of the branches are browning on most of the trees. Water can not be an issue(if not to much) it's raining since October. I have attached some pictures, please tell me they will not die on me altogether!!! What can I do? I'm talking about 100+ trees. They were planted by someone else, they came in burlap and they were left in it.(I was told that is normal) Please, any advice? Thanks,Gabriella
Gabriella, you may just be seeing a little winter stress. Give them good TLC this year, and hope for the best. If they don't prosper, FWIW my personal take on these is "just say no to cedar hedging"! It seems your yard backs on to a park or schoolyard? A mixed shrub and tree border about 5' deep should give you good privacy, some soundproofing, good wildlife attraction (ie birds) and a lot more visual interest than the cedars. Cedar hedges tend to become beasts over time...
Thank you so much to take your time and write to me,I'll hope than that it's only winter stress or maybe bad handling.I'll fertilize them for sure and next time I'll try something else instead . Appreciate your answer, Thanks Gabriella
