We are looking to achieve immediate privacy from a neighbour by planting 7 foot cedar trees every foot or so as a 70 foot long hedge. Will the cedar species fill out with new growth at the bottom of the tree or will they be too woody at this height.? Is there any other other species that would provide us with immediate privacy if we bought them at the 7 foot height?

    Thanks Woodyron

Are you asking about Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd'? This normally branches to the base if left to its own.
