We have a smarag cedar hedge and we want to add on to this hedge with the same species. When we ask around who has smarag cedars, all these growers say they have them, when we go and look at them they don't have the same look as ours. How do you tell the difference between a Smarag to a Pyramidal or Emerald Cedar? Or are they all the same with just different names? Please help, we are confused.
    Thankyou

Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd'. If you use search box top of this page for 'Smaragd' lots of info and sources comes up. Might also Google search web and images "Smaragd cedar".

'Smaragd' and emerald are the same (smaragd is Danish for emerald; the cultivar originated in Denmark).

Note of course it is not a cedar (Cedrus), but a Thuja.
