Can someone help me identify this minute scree-slope plant, seen at Goat Lake area, Cathedral Park, 28 July 2013? My thumb/finger is for a size reference. I can't even suggest a family, I'm afraid !
Thanks for pondering my queries ! I don't think it's Minuartia which I also photographed during my visit, but you're obviously confident about the family - that's a good start.
Good suggestions, thanks. I'm hoping that someone who's very familiar wth the locale can give me a definitive answer. (If I had the illustrated Flora of BC, then there's a good chance I'd be able to figure it out)
Perhaps it is not this species, but take a look at the leaves on Minuartia macrocarpa: http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Minuartia+macrocarpa Scleranthus and Colobanthus don't occur in North America, it seems.
There is one - Scleranthus annuus, but it looks completely different. My suggestion assumed that this is NZ, as "Goat Lake area, Cathedral Park" did not say much to me.
Hi to all, after reviewing sveral images taken in the area, including one I'd previously identified as Minuartia obtusifolia (hopefully the current name), I've concluded that Abgardeneer is right - it is a Minuartia, but I'm not sure of the exact species, but that will have to do - many thanks for your eforts.
