Catalpa Tree

    I am in Salmon Arm B.c.
    I have a catalpa tree that is about 30 feet high and maybe 10 t0 20 years old. Can I move this tree to a new property orcan I propagate a new one from it? What do I need to know about the roots for moving ect.Thankyou from eva

    North Dakota State Extension has an article on transplanting trees, including a section on the bottom about transplanting large trees.

    I suspect the plant is large enough that a tree spade would be required, in which case an expert should be called in. Propagation, of course, is far less expensive - assuming it is Catalpa bignonioides, the Native Plants Information Network provides information.

    Thank you Daniel, and yes we would be using a large machine to move it, I was wondering if the roots were very large at that age? Eva
