    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could offer help on aring for my Santa Rosa Plum tree? I moved into the house last year and got 1 plum off the tree, but had a lot of flowers. So far this year I got a lot of flowers again and expected them to start budding into fruit, but the flowers are dying off. What should I be doing to care for the tree. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Sounds like lack of cross-pollination, although this one is said to be self-fruitful. Maybe it's something like a trace element deficiency. How big is the tree? You make it sound like it was a long-established specimen present before you moved there, but maybe it's actually young and small.

Possibly pruning would help, Sunset WESTERN GARDEN BOOK for instance asserts that

"Japanese varieties require heavy annual pruning to ensure fruit set and healthy growth throughout the tree."
