I have just found out that I have 3. Cardiocrinums. They have flowered this year after 4 years. I would some advice what to do with the plant. Do I leave the stem or cut it back. The seeds are ready yet.
At UBC, we leave the stems until later in the winter. The dried stems are good for autumn and early winter interest.
The bulb which created the flowering stem will die. But it has already made several smaller offset bulbs which will grow next year. If you want to, you can dig them out now and plant them a couple of feet apart. Or you can leave them where they are. If you dig them, try to save as much of the root system as possible, and replant the offsets as quickly as possible, to minimize drying and root loss.
