I wouldn't dig this up in July, it will shrivel. Maybe just buy one at a nursery instead.

Question unfortunalty the deed is already done. It is about 7 feet high and appears to be a sion or off shoot off a larger stump that was in the ground thought it was a tree of its own but when I started diging down abot 2.5 feet i found out what it was. Anyhow it is in my yard now I have it well staked and have given some fertilzer and plenty of water. I will continue to water well. Has started to shirivel some after about 24hrs any thought on prognosis?

The current leaves and flowers may die off but the plant may still live to sprout new growth next year. Water indeed and water deeply, but don't drown the poor thing - depending on temps, maybe once daily or every second day. Shade it with something if you've planted it in full sun. If this one doesn't make it you probably can buy seed or small trees.

Overall prognosis - this will get to be a darn big tree! But it's gorgeous. Here in Vancouver we have a street lined with mature ones on both sides.

Thanks Karin I have it in a location with partial shade although very little. I am watering it good every day. Fairly warm here and sunny. Still wilted but who knows. Hoping for a win on this time will tell. I also have a mature grape vine mature plum and a new pear tree. I have some real nice blue spruces as well, that really enjoy the environment here and have an almost incandesent blue to them. I think mabey the pride of the yard. Anyhow got a wound foot long crack in plum trying everything to win that fight love that tree. Using inscectidale soap and have treated crack with Pruning paste that is natural made partialy with bee wax I beleive. Wish me luck and happy Gardning
