    Hi,
I'm really frustrated with trying to figure out exactly what this palm is so i can learn how to better care for it (suggestions more than welcome). -- i received the palm from a friend's mom in who's house it appeared to by dying

it also has these black dots on the lower stems, i don't know if that's normal or what i can do about it.

there's also a lot of crusty white along the inner pot rim and down below -- too much salts?

the tips of a lot of the fronds are turning brown -- and some are wrinkle-ish.

    thanks so much!

It looks like a young golden cane palm, Dypsis lutescens.

The black dots and whitish coating on the basal sheaths are natural features of this species.
