Does anyone know the name of this plant? When it first grew it was a single stalk that grew about 3 ft tall then died off. The past few summers it has grown but with more sprouts but it always dies and regrows for the summer. This year there are more then ever. Our Family calls it an 'umbrella tree'. When it grows tall its leaves fan out similar to an umbrella. I was thinking something in the palm or bamboo family? Thanks, Florida Girl :-)
I'm confused by the question. Offsets have a small bulb that's easy to dig up and move. Just water well and shade them for a few days til they recover. HTH Chris
Well I dug and Dug and DUGGGG...the roots go really far down, the bugs were out tonight i will have to wait until i get more OFF to go outside i was getting all bit up. Thanks for your help. I didn't get to the bulb hopefully i will be able to get to them tomorrow.
Transplanting/propagating: Dig up the offsets, which are bulb like rhizomes, when the plant goes dormant and plant out in the spring. When dormant, you do not need to include the roots - just harvest the bulb.
