Hi there, new to the forum; looking for a bit of help please.
This tree is about 30ft. high probably 25+ yrs. old & growing in an Hotel garden here on the Island (Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain) has maple-like leaves, evergreen here. 6" hard seed pods, bunches of 4-5, black bullet seeds, red/pink individual 4" beautiful, flowers-slightly waxy?
I can't find it anywhere on the web.
    Pics. att. Tree & pod/seeds.
    Many thanks.

Are you there now? Could you post a photo of the tree? And are you very sure that those leaves belong to the tree and are not an ivy growing on the tree?

Hi there, yes I have another picture. No it's not IVY!
Hope you can help. It is a sub tropical tree.

I don't think so. Aren't the leaves the wrong shape? Those trees have bunches of pods in 6-9-12's in 1 cluster? my tree has only 4-5. Your tree pods are also not 6" in length more like 3-4".
    What do you think?

I was so excited when I came up with this name, and now I see that it has been already suggested and dismissed. I don't know this tree, but it does seem to have leaves with various shapes - see
    http://keyserver.lucidcentral.org/w...c0f01/media/Html/Brachychiton_acerifolius.htm
and there are several photos with only four fruits in a bunch, for instance
    http://www.ntbg.org/plants/plant_details.php?plantid=1853
However, the Brachychiton discolor leaves are pretty convincing:

One thing you can check, from http://tree-species.blogspot.ca/2007/12/bush-kurrajong-brachychiton-discolor.html:
The flowers of the two species are supposed to look different.

Thanks for yours & all the suggestions. The nearest is the Bush Kuarrjong. The flowers are about right. I don't have a photo of them unfortunately. It does not have as many flowers as the photo but the pink/red is pretty close in colour & shape. Doesn't flower often & the tree is a bit uncared for. The top is dying off, probably due to lack of water I think.
It does seem the nearest. i wanted to see the flowers as this is the clincher. Looks like you have found it. I couldn't find the flowers on the web.
I have planted some of the seeds & am waiting for germination. Seeds are very hard, but hoping for the best.
    Many thanks.
