Can you identify this tree

    Someone said it was a 'lollipop' tree, but I think that is his own name for the tree.

    They are located in Yaletown.

    Possibly Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'. A close-up of the foliage would help.

    Whatever they are, they've been sheared regularly, the shape isn't natural.

    That's why they are lollipop trees.

    I don't know what kind of trees they really are.

    The hornbeam seems very likely.
