Likes shade or sun. The more shade it gets, the darker green the leaves (that are red when new). The more sun it gets, the paler the green - even to yellow. It will trail and is easily cut off and rooted in water. It is prickly - one inch long on the older part of the plant and barely a centimeter on the new parts. My grandmother and mother called it a mexican poinsettia.
