I'm wondering if this berry is edible. It's growing in zone 9a. It's in my mother's garden so I'm not sure if it's wild or cultivated. Does anyone recognize it?

Looks like a Cotoneaster. Not toxic, but no fun to eat, not very juicy and very bitter / astringent. Best left for birds.

Thank you. These berries are growing around the play space of some autistic children so it's really nice to know that they're non-toxic.
