My husband & I planted grass seed about 8 weeks ago (Scotts Kentucky Bluegrass Thermal Blue Starter seed-claims no weed seed). 4 weeks after the seeding we noticed a tightly packed group of what looks like weeds. They seem to be rooted individually, and have a thick waxy leaf that seems to hold a dew or moisture on their leaf. No flowering to be seen. We have attempted to remove these by hand (since we have grass seed down), but they seem never-ending. Any idea what it might be? Or how to get rid of it without damaging the grass seed or continuing to remove manually? FYI - they are taking over about a 1/4 acre area. HELP!

Nope, there is no pink/reddish stem. And not viney. And the tips of the leaves are more pointy, not blunt & rounded. We live in South-Central Montana...if that helps narrow the search down. Thanks

I'm fairly uncertain, but redroot pigweed? I have seen it emerge in masses like this.

Would you be able to take an additional photograph of a plant that's been pulled from the ground, showing the root?

Chenopodium vulvaria...that's not the one in the picture I originally posted, but I have this one too. Now I don't have to ask about it, now just need to get rid of it. Thanks. The search continues for the first one pictured...
