This vine has grown in a heavily shaded area of my garden for some years, and I have treated it as a weed. Now, however, after removing a tree, the area gets sun and the vine has flowered. Please let me know what it is and if allowing it to climb on other plants will hurt them. In the attached photos, the arrowhead shaped leaves belong to the vine. The interior of the flower is slighly pink with white stripes running from center to edge. Thank you.
Yes, it will hurt your other plants by climbing all over them, wrapping itself around them, and choking the life out of them. Entirely too friendly. ---If I spot one little set of leaves and a tendril waving in the breeze sprouting anywhere in my yard, OUT it comes.
Thanks to all of you who responded. You've been a tremendous help. I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure this out without you. Thanks again.
