I was given this tree by a neighbour last year. I was told at that time that it was a Norwegian Pine. I recently looked it up only to see a bunch of pics that look nothing like my tree. I have tried to find out what it is and thought I would post a pic here and ask for help. The only pic I have is this one from x-mas. Thanks for your help!
It was a very beautiful amaryllis; however, I didn't know what to do with it once it died back, so I stuck it outside and the bulb just rotted away to nothingness, lol, I am not very good at this sort of thing, but I do enjoy them while they last. Hey, maybe you can help me. My tree (the nordic pine) is struggling. It has a new set of four branches that are super green and healthy on the top. But, the bottom branches keep getting browner and browner and dropping off one by one. Also, some of the branches have brown leaves (I guess that's what you could call them, lol) that then get green and lively at the ends. Is that wierd? Is it lack of sunlight? Maybe it's root bound? What do you think?
Araucaria like to be cool and evenly moist, with bright (NOT hot!) light. DO NOT let your tree get dry! When did you last repot? Every 3-4 years, at least. If you can grasp the tree by its trunk and pull the whole thing as a unit up out of the pot---yeah, it's root bound. If it's real top-heavy---more than likely. If you water and the water doesn't even pause but just runs right through the pot...yep. Sounds as if your tree is trying its best, but needs your help! ---Araucaria are from the S.Hemisphere and in their native habitat can grow to be 200 feet tall!!!
I realise that they are called needles... what I was refering to was the group of needles clustered on each sorta branch that are then attached to the larger branch.
