Howdy guys, well I am in a little trouble I recently came upon a little plant shop closing down and was going to throw out a whole bunch of these little guys so I thought they looked really nice and rescued the whole lot of them 14 in total, well i thought I'd be rescuing them they are all wilting and I can not find any info on this plant and how to care for it.

Soo...was hoping someone here may be able to help identify it, the lady at the shop didnt know either just said it's a cane tree....well it sure dosnt look like any cane tree I could find. Sorry the pics are very poor I'll re do them if you need.

    Thanks so much,

    Michael.

    Oh thanks togata57 :D

**Note to Mods**hmm someone moved this over to here I sorta thought it was an outdoor Tree as they were pulled from the grond before she was going to chuck them however I do not know very much about all this stuff so to the mods: thanks for the move to the right area! ** **

Anyways yeah I just couldnt let her throw the little guys out they do look really nice though I think they neeed much larger pots, she was throwing out a bunch of beautiful super exotic plants wow!! these things were unreal pretty.... they were simply stunning but..... I would have killed those in 2 days being a beginner so I left them in the hope someone who could care for those who knew what to do with them.

These little guys since getting them Identified I have figured out thier watering and lighting much better and now have the lot of them perked right up over night!!! Under 2 lights 1 with a blue spectrum and 1 with the redish spectrum 23 watt CFL's all I have right now. they are in some real mossy pete and in thier tiny little pots they get soaked like crazy then almost next time you look at them they are wilting and light as a feather all dried out.

Should be fun tooling about on this forum!! will see you all around here!

    Cheers,

    Michael.

A zone 10 tree planted in the ground in Canada? I would not have expected that if the tree is in fact what I think it is. Was it inside a greenhouse?

Howdy Junglekeeper, yeah I should have mentioned it was inside a very large quanset style greenhouse it was dug into the ground below the frost line and had foundations around it so they could plant stuff right into the ground. Though I do not know why these werent in pots in hydroponics floodtables or the other setups they had in there either after finding more out about the plant here, maby because she thought it was a cane plant or tree I am still quite puzzled. Someone had to know what they were you'd think.

But yeah it sure wouldnt survive the winters here lol. I was really sad to see her close it down because it was a very nice setup and had some great deals on her plants, it was very neat as she had some very large tall trees growing right from the ground in there so it took away from the greenhouse feel and almost made it seem like walking into a forest with a tent over it lol. Well... a very large tent :)

    Cheers,

    Michael.

Judging by the large stem diameter, the tree may have served as a stock plant whereby new growth would eventually be air layered to produce new plants. It does seem strange that they didn't know what it is.
