I got this cactus the other day and i would like to know what kind it is. Thanks in advance for your help.
On a side note I was told the water it every 2-3 weeks, does that sounds correct to you guys? Finally its getting kind of big so do you think that I need to transplant it to a new pot soon?

Looks like it could do with a larger pot. Use a well-drained peat-free soil mix.

Watering: when the soil gets completely dry. That will vary a lot with the growing conditions; it might be daily in hot summer weather, but only monthly in winter.

Nice, these Myrtillocactus geometrizans apparently can grow to 20 feet tall in the wild. I am going to need a new pot. Is there cactus soil mix available at plant shops or should I make it my self? How can I be certain that the soil is completely bone dry before I water the cactus. Finally I read this species needs a lot of direct sun, since im located in NE that can be a problem on most days, will florescence be a good substitute? Thanks for your help.
