I live in Auburn California, and I was wondering how easy it would be for me to grow Stargazer Lilies. thank you.
I'd give them a try.........i grow mine in a polytunnel to keep the lily beetle off them, the temperature in the tunnels can get to 110F just try a few and see what happens.
I don't see why they wouldn't grow there, but I'd recommend protecting them from afternoon sun and make sure they get enough water. The area around Auburn can get pretty dry come late summer, and if I recall correctly, you are just starting to gain altitude there, but I think not enough to worry about overwintering them. I'd give them a light dose of a water-soluable fertilizer every now and then during the summer and be sure to provide winter mulch. They should do fine.
