I have lived in this location in Calgary nearly 9 years now, I have mentioned in the past the determination of some plants to survive no matter what I want. I try to control what grows in my garden but in many cases I do not win. I have found that the people that lived here prior to us had plant medicinal interests. Many of the plants that grow here have turned out to be invasive with medicinal properties, apparently. This next one is one that seems to survive in spite of my efforts to destroy, plant is about 10 cm across and in seed. I usually catch them prior to this stage but it may help in the identification of it. This is one of the rougher ondeveloped parts of my backyard as you can see by other "weeds" present. Thanks, Skip
Plantago major - broadleaf plantain and Plantago lanceolata - narrowleaf plantain http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantago_lanceolata are very common weeds, difficult to get rid of once established.
