Hi, please forgive my ignorance but I am completely new to this. I received this Bonsai as a gift and have been trying to research how to properly care for it on the internet. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could offer any assistance in identifying it, thanks so much.

Probably Juniperus procumbens or a low-growing form of J. chinensis. Will require bright light, cool conditions in addition to frequent watering, pruning and training required by all bonsai. Such gifts can be horticultural Easter ducklings. You will need to bone up on bonsai to be able to continue with it successfully. It looks like it already needs some top pruning.

Annual re-potting and pruning of roots will be part of the drill.
