can someone id this bean please?

    i keep googling wild bean because these grow along the roadsides everywhere but i haven't located it. i'm in mt. shasta, ca.

    Maybe try "wild pea", Lathyrus .

    Yes: Lathyrus latifolius. We have this up here, too. Numerous pea family plants produce bean-like fruits, including those kinds actually called beans.
