This plant has been in the local gym for 2 years and is now struggling. It was once lush with upright leaves now the remaining 3 leaves are parallel to the floor! I took it home and would like to repot it and see if i can help it a bit. Can some one tell me what it is? My guesses were an overgrown asplenium nidus, or some form of banana or some form of Philodendron?? What might i do to help it?? Would cutting off the existing 3 leaves help strengthen the root or hurt it?

    thanks for any help

    Hi Ron,

oh my yes I think you are correct. I had spent all yesterday on exoticrainforest.com looking over all the Philodendrons and never looked at Anthuriums. This morning I went back after seeing your post and it does match several Anthuriums, particularly the jenmanii and the bonplandii varieties. I suppose it will need a ton of humidity..I am surprised it lasted this long in the gym! Thanks a bunch!

Actually the more I researched the more I believe it to be the Schlechtendali variety ;-)
