I realize that I left myself open to all sorts of comments ( like... it's a leaf. Or, 'It's a green leaf), but I do need some advice. It's taking over ny father in law's side yard here in Langford ( Victoria,BC) and if I can figure out what it is, I can decide whether or not to keep it. The quarter on the leave is to give it some scale. It doesn't seem to be a tree, more like a shrub and grows up to 6 meters high. The 2nd picture shows the leaf attachment, and the third is just because. The trunk behind it is not related. Tried looking it up, but no luck. thanks, Ron
If it is growing like a shrub it was probably cut back and it is under another tree, so the shade would affect the growth pattern as well. A very common tree around here. You can prune it back and keep it growing like a shrub if you want it there, or remove it.
i was wondering if it was that (Acer macrophyllum), but when i read the desciption that it was used for wood ( and the tallest trunk is 7meters high, but only 5+ cm across,) I had my doubts. Thanks, and I'll see if it flowers like it shows here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_macrophyllum R
The response time here is amazing, thanks for you answers, and as now I'm reassured that it's not an invasive.. I think I'll keep it. thanks... R
