Hi everyone! Can anyone help guide me on what I need to do in order to grow my jade tree? I was given a pretty good sized piece of a friends jade tree, and she told me if I soaked it in water until it sprouted roots I could plant it and it would grow...

Is this right? How long should I soak it in water? How often should I change the water? Do I need to let the plant get sunlight?

I've never had a plant in my life...my husband tells me I can't grow it and so I want to prove him wrong!!

Any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated!

    Thank you :)

    Thanks so much!

    A couple more questions:

How do I know the wound is dry?

And as soon as it's dry, then I plant it? Or do I wait for it to grow roots first? And what do I plant it in, potting soil?

Sorry for so many questions! Thank you very much!

Through visual and/or tactual inspection. The wound will form a callous.

    Either way.

Potting soil will be fine as long as it's porous but I'm sure expert growers will have more specific recommendations.
