Can anyone tell me what this is and what I should do with it for the winter?

    Do I just trim it right down for the winter? Thanks so much, you have all been a savior since we bought our new house trying to learn to look after the massive garden.

    Probably a Kniphofia. You can cut it back part way now for appearances sake.
