We are in New City, NY about 40 mile north of NYC. We've had alot of rain this June. I noticed these growing around mulched areas. They start out pale orange and then turn fuzzy black. Any ideas? My 4year old daughter "needs" to know. Thanks
You're daughter should get a kick out of knowing this is most likely a 'Dog Vomit' slime mould. :o) Harmless...and great for you're mulch! The brown is the spore....if you keep this area damp at any point you will probably see it again...even in you're lawn.
