I inherited this tree a couple of weeks ago. It survived the 12 hour trip home in a boat trailer and is putting on new growth. Now I just need to figure out what it is so I can learn how to care for it.

Should be a Schefflera. In Florida, they like full sun and can become rather large trees (not to mention something of a pest). Native to Queensland, Australia.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah...it was in a house alone and didn't get any water for a while. I'm attempting to rehabilitate it but I don't know a while lot about plants aside from planting, watering and fertilizing. Also, it lost about half it's leaves in the move. Is there anything I should be doing to insure it's survival. The tree has a lot of sentimental value to my wife and we really don't want to lose it.

Main thing right now is to get it turgid again. If watering doesn't bring it back then apparently something else happened, like it got too cold at some point.
