This is an image of a tree growing in my mother's yard in Alix, Alberta. We have no idea what it is, and our search for answers is coming up empty.
Can anyone tell us what it is? It develops these pink "tassle" like blooms in April, followed by the leaves, which start out looking like a Maple leaf, but lose their distinctive points as it matures.

    Any insight would be appreciated!!

    Thanks!

Maple of some sort. A close-up showing the mature leaves will help tell which species.
