I was just visiting my sister in va and she showed me a pretty plant that just came up, it caught me off gaurd but she asked if I could help her find out what it is. Does anyone know.
sorry about the email address and having it in the wrong place. Actually I was wrong about how the plant came to be, she bought it from a lady who just took over a nursery but did not know what it was so any help would be greatly appreciated
Almost looks like Hyderangea where the leaves go into the stem. Is there one with narrower leaves? Does it smell like hyderangea? In the pic. it looks as tho it could do with a drink whatever it is. Liz
Hydrangea's not a bad guess. Is there a woody part? Some photos of the stem would help. And if all else fails, just wait a year or two and it will flower.
Hard to tell but I would guess lemon verbena perhaps? Looks a bit like the one I have to make teas and accompany salmon with. bclady
picture of Lantana trifolia http://www.safarikato.com/04%2Capril/%83%89%83%93%83%5E%83i%83g%83%8A.JPG It's weird--the flower is a lot like L. camara or mentvidensis, the familiar ones down here, but I would not have guessed the plant from the leaves alone.
Has it had flowers yet??? Now that the 2 photos are side by side I will concede I was way wrong with Hyderangea (sp) (Embarrassed red face.) This would almost have made a stumper. I have also just realised the small pictures can be made large and things look very different when magnified :) Liz (It's raining and pouring hope it keeps up. Stage 4 water restrictions are on their way)
