I found what i think is a tropical seed pod on the beach in brunei and was hoping to find out what plant it came from. it is about 2 inches long, 1.5 inches wide and 0.5 inches thick. It feels like it is made of a hardwood, is dark in colour and polished like a piece of furniture. There is dimple in one end that looks like where the stalk would have been attached. Any suggestions out there? thanks.

Not sure on the type of seed. But the 'dimple' in the side is called a micropyle, during fertilization it allows the pollen tube to enter the ovule for fertilization.

Thanks to all for replies. A whole new world of Sea Beans has opened up to me. I suspect Entada Rheedii may well be the one as other internet pictures look very similar. I am not planning to try and grow it but just keep it as a memento of my trip.
    Thanks again to all.
