    Dear Planties,

Can anyone help identify this plan in our yard. It was given to us about 4 years ago, at a height of about 1 meter. It is now just over 2 meters and has not blossomed or born fruit. We would really like to know what this plant is, and what we can expected from it. We are located in East Vancouver.

Much appreciation for any help that you can provide!

Can it be Hippophae rhamnoides? I don't see anything in the Hippophae rhamnoides - Wikipedia text about this having spines, but they are clearly visible in one of the photos and I remember it was very tricky picking even a few berries. If it is this, you would have to wait for flowers to see if you have a male or female, and you would not get berries on a female unless there were a male nearby.

Certainly looks like Hippophae rhamnoides, and yes, this is very spiny.
