Can anyone identify this plant

    This plant popped up in my garden and I am having difficulty in finding someone to identify it. It looks like hard thorns but it is not...they are not sharp but they are stiff to touch. 100_0013.jpg

    It's a sedge, hopefully someone else here will be more specific.

    Shallow Sedge was a definite match..thank you...the morning star has a smaller pod with wider spikes..wasn't sure if it would change as it grew...appreciate the help.
