O.K., I think I've got this figured out. It took forever to get my photo downsized for posting, but hopefully it will work now. I was given this plant years ago, and never did know what it was. It keeps propagating itself and the people I've given the babies to would like to know what it is! I think the most interesting thing about it is its stem. It looks somewhat like a palm's trunk except that it has five definite sides to it. In the photo, you can see the leaves on the baby plant has more obvious stripes, and then they tone down more on the teen-ager and the adult. The marks on the stem are left when a leaf falls and if it comes off before it is ready, it bleeds a white sap. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Jeanie
Dear Junglekeeper, Thank you so much for pointing me to the thread about the Madagascar Jewel. What a terrific name for this plant! In three hours I'll be meeting three friends to whom I gave babies last week, and now I'll be able to tell them what they have. I really appreciate your fast response. Jeanie
