My neighbour gave it to me from her garden when she moved away and she had no idea what it is either. I never saw it in bloom so I can't explain flower color or even if it gets flowers. The leaves feel soft and velvety and they seem to be growing rather quickly. I'd like to know what it is, so I can give it adequate requirements. Thankyou once again.

Probably Alchemilla mollis, which does self-seed so that would explain her having extras to give away. It is a remarkably adaptable plant; quite drought resistant but grows better with moisture, and doing nicely in sun or quite a bit of shade. However, its leaves will have a more silvery look in more sun. The flowers are not spectactular and if you don't want it seeding all over (which it's most likely to do in a moist environment), then you could cut the flowers quite soon after flowering, before they set seed.

    Hi Karin and Chimera,
Thank you very much. Boy, you really are fast at identifying plants. I did a Google search for this plant and yes that certainly looks like mine. I appreciate your help again.
