I just recently moved into a rental home and am trying to identify a fruit tree. In the yard we have one apricot tree, and about 20 feet away from that is a plum tree. The fruit tree that I cannot identify is growing from the same stump as the plum tree.....

The fruit is yellow and about the size of a cherry, (does not taste like a cherry) yet the skin of the fruit tastes tart kinda like a plum, and the meat of the fruit is similar to an apricot and plum (fruit meat sticks to the seed). The general overall flavor of this mystery fruit is very similar to a plum but does not taste as sharp.

My original thought is a yellow cherry, Can Anyone Help Me?

FYI the plums from our plum tree have a yellow center not a deep red center.

Grow wild here every where. The parrots and other birds love them. I am unsure if they are escapees from the original plum orchards that were grown here 50 odd years ago. They certainly are not natives. We also have a lot of wild apple trees from the same source that also are adored by the parrots and marsupial possums.

They make good jam and are nice eating.
