Can anyone ID this seed pod

    This seed pod was found in Douglas Arizona at a private residence. The owner had no idea of what the tree was. Can anyone help me.

    Those look like Mimosa pods; however CAVEAT LECTOR - most of the trees in the gigantic family Fabaceae have pods similar to those. Without seeing the actual tree that they came from, a positive ID will be nearly impossible.

    The following are possible trees to have produced those; the list is not complete.
    Mimosa, Acacia, Delonix, Senna, Cassia, Adenanthera, Desmanthus.

    I'd be leaning towards Mimosa or Acacia, myself. Plant one and see what sprouts!
