Can anyone id this plant?

    I was wondering if anyone can help me id this plant....my grandad used to grow it for "medicinal purposes" (he told me it was used in japan) but he doesn't know the plant's name. It grows to 3 feet aprox.

    Reminds me of senna, but it's too short if it only goes to 1m.
